Chester Aikido Club - Covid 19 Class Protocols

Please read the Club policy below for attending classes. (Please note there are no Saturday or kid's classes until further notice).  

Classes are to Resume Tuesday 18th May and Friday 21st May at 19:30. 

The rules that govern our ability to practise are detailed below and are subject to change as the guidance changes. Please note that compliance with these points is required for the safety of all  Anyone not able or willing to comply will be allowed to practise.

  • Classes will start at 7.30 pm and are for adults only.

  • Classes will be approximately 90 minutes to allow for a reasonable clean-down time before and after the start and end of class. (We will be looking at resuming the normal class lengths when we can).

  • Your BAF Membership must be up to date to attend class, if your membership is not valid you will not be allowed to train. Please bring proof of insurance with you. (Usually found in your Green or Blue Book).  Please contact us at aikido@heritage-smith.co.uk if you are unsure about your membership. 

  • The classes will be focused on no contact weapons work (in order to help observe social distancing) and members should bring their own weapons as we are unable to safely lend weapons at this time.  (We hope to be able to resume non-weapons work towards the end of June).

  • All weapons should be sanitised before and after use.

  • You will be required to fill out the new club contact form when you return to practice. (If you have not already done so).

  • Face masks/visors must be worn by all members attending classes.

  • AS Per JAC guidelines, if you are exempt from wearing a mask due to medical reasons, proof in the form of a letter from your doctor written to your instructor explaining that you can practise without a mask (we will require a copy for our records).  A generic or self-written document is not acceptable. If you can't prove that you are exempt, you cannot train without a mask. There are no exceptions!

  • If you or anyone in your household displays any symptoms you should to attend the dojo.

  • After practising at the dojo, if you feel ill or present any of the COVID-19 symptoms you must inform the Club immediately, so we can utilise our Track and Trace Procedures.

  • If you have a temperature above 37.5C you will not be permitted to practise. 

  • Cleaning and sanitation equipment will be provided, including special mops for the mats.  

  • Everyone will clean the mats before and after use.  

  • The changing room, kitchen and toilets will be closed (except the toilet near the entrance door. Please keep this tidy and clean). 

  • We will monitor attendance to allow Track and Trace if anyone reports symptoms.  

  • Online bank payments will be used to avoid cash handling. Please do not bring cash to the class. 

  • Please come along in your kit as changing rooms will be closed and be sure to bring your own weapons.

  • Gym gear is acceptable in lieu of a Gi. 

  • As chairs are not be available, spectating will not be permitted.
